Saint-Petersburg State MINING INSTITUTE is the first technical academy in Russia, which was founded in 1773 in accordance with Ekaterina II Decree. It was realization of Peter I and Lomonosov ideas about engeneering staff training.

Today over 8,5 thousands students is studiing here. The Institute prepares bachelors, masters, engineers. There are 40 chairs in the Institute where work over 120 Doctors of Sciences and Professors, over 400 candidates of science and associate professors, over 30 academicians.
